Corporal Daniel Knights 50th Foot

Postby Paul knowles » 22 Feb 2017 20:58

Hello can anyone help?

I have an Indian Mutiny with Delhi Bar to Private Daniel Knights 61st Foot. He had previously served with the 50th Foot and was awarded the Punniar Star, Punjab medal with 3 bars and the Sutlej medal with 2 bars with the 50th. Sadly all were together when auctioned in 2000 but have since been sold individually. I'm very keen to hear from anyone who may know where Daniels other awards are. The Punniar Star was auctioned at Spinks in 2016.

Also any information regarding his service would be wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Brilliant forum. Paul

For the records, have you checked out the findmypast database British Army Service Records?

If he is not there,if for example he died while in service with the Army, the Muster rolls at thee National Archives would be another source

There are details in the FIBIS Fibiwiki page British Army, section Records

Hi Maureen, Many thanks for the reply and advice, I will indeed follow the links you have suggested. I believe he was discharged in 1858 so should be some information there. Kind regards Paul
