Benjamin EASTWOOD, King's Royal Rifles Batt NK, disch 1902

Postby apowell » 05 Apr 2009 15:53

Hi,

I'm attempting to help someone in her search for more information on her Great Uncle Benjamin Eastwood, Private 2722, King's Royal Rifles service during the Boar War. He was discharged in 1902 and went on to fight in the 1914-1918 war.

I was wondering if anyone could advise me if it's possible to find out which Battalion Benjamin served with during the Boar War with the information we have already.

Many thanks

Absolutely it's possible, but the source you need to look at is at the National Archives, Kew :(
The Queens South Africa medal roll would be the place to look. You have name, rank, number and regiment so it should be a quick and simple task to consult the rolls and determine his battalion.
