Crimean+ War Graves, Drysdale Australia

Postby Banker » 06 Jul 2008 01:27

The United Services Home was situated in Drysdale in Victoria and many of the inmates (as they were called then) were buried at the Drysdale Cemetary in a special area.

Each year on the closest Sunday to the anniversary of the Charge of The Light Brigade a ceremony takes place.

Here is a list of those men buried and I have individual photos of their plaques. I would be interested if anyone has any medals to these guys. As in all the years I have only tracked one lot down still surviving in someones collection.

Regards Steve

I have been researching an ancestor and found that he lived at the home in Drysdale for time. I also found this that you may be interested in http://gallery.its.unimelb.edu.au/imu/i ... a&irn=5827 it looks to me like some of the medals are sitting in an archive box and in the library at Melbourne University.

Apologies if you already have this information, the thread is 6 years old now, but it popped up in my google search for the home in Drysdale.
