Here for your ref, The Kings Shropshire Light Infantry Memorial ( Shrewsbury UK )

TO THE MEMORY OF/THE OFFICERS, NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS/& MEN OF THE LINE/MILITIA & VOLUNTEER BATTALIONS/OF THE KING'S SHROPSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY/WHO WERE KILLED IN ACTION & DIED/OF WOUNDS OR DISEASE WHILST SERVING WITH THE/2ND BATTALION OF THE KING'S SHROPSHIRE LI (85TH LI|/ IN THE TRANSVAAL, ORANGE RIVER COLONY/ & CAPE COLONY/ DURING THE CAMPAIGN IN SOUTH AFRICA, 1899 - 1902/ THIS MEMORIAL HAS BEEN ERECTED/ BY THEIR COMRADES, OFFICERS, NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS/ & MEN OF THE LINE/ MILITIA & VOLUNTEER BATTALIONS/ OF THE KINGS SHROPSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY

A Stunning memorial one has often looked upon.

From front facing the images continue clockwise round the memorial.

A wonderful memorial; thanks for posting it.
[I hate to quibble but - I couldn't help noticing the sculptor has rendered the Long Lee rifle as a charger-loading Lee Enfield [CLLE], which is a post-Boer War [1910] adaptation. Sorry for being such an anorak.]

Hi RobD

I think this memorial was unveiled 22nd July 1904, I did once have a great original image of the day, but below is an earlier image of the memorial not long after its unveiling.

The Lee does look a different MK here not the best quality image to see it, I think the rifle has been replaced, when I'm not sure RobD ?

The base shows Original I believe the correct Mk Lee ?
