2nd West Yorks Ashanti 1895-96

Postby pittpiper » 10 Oct 2014 16:01

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had any photographs of the West Yorks in the Ashanti expedition. I would love to know what they were wearing during the campaign and whether their kit matched those detachments sent from England. Along with photographs, does anyone have an recommendations for histories of the campaign? I would like to know more about the role played by the West Yorks. If there are any diaries or unit specific histories out there, that would be great.

Thank you,

Sam

You could also try:

'Ashanti 1895-96 - A roll of British and West Indian recipients of the Ashanti Star' including many details of other medals earned, previous and subsequent service, with diaries, photographs and other previously unpublished material.
By Ian McInnes and Mark Fraser,

ISBN 10: 0948251123.

Well worth reading.
