Where is the best place to look for tunics for 24th foot !

Postby Bazzaboy » 08 Jan 2013 12:32

I am looking to see if anyone knows of, or where to find the correct tunics for 24th foot AZW. Or if any one has for sale. I understand quartermaster sells them, but I am struggling to think of any others, my son wishes to get involved now and I am looking for a tunic for him, as well as a grey back shirt. Just thought I would put the feelers out.
Cheers

You would do better looking for a scarlet frock if you want authenticity for the AZW ...... tunics were probably not worn at all

Hello

Have you contacted The Diehards, re-enactment group of the Victorian Military Society?

Hello Bazzaboy,

You could try 19th Century Tailoring, they offer a 24th frock.

http://www.sutlers.co.uk/index.html

I was tempted with the Gordon Highlander trews, but they appear to have the seam on the outside rather than the inside.

All the best,

Robert

I've emailed them to query the build of the trews and the photo and noted the 24th offerings. I'd like a pair of GH trews but there's not a great deal of choice or without selling the car to do so.

Whatever you decide, please let me know how you go, options for Victorian reproductions are limited and good traders few and far between.

All the best.

Bazzaboy,

If you are in the UK, try http://www.victorianstrollers.co.uk/index.html. I bought one from Steve as an extra jacket some time back. He offers a economy version, just in case it doesn't work out for the son.

History bunkers and Sutlers, both offer jackets.

all the best,
Guy

I just found this website:

You can switch to english if necessary, or work on your french
I have no idea about quality and service though.
