Saw this at auction as Original victorian royal volunteers tunic altered. Anyone ever hear of a soldier altering these garments in such a fashion. Thnx for any input.

Hello Frankjersey;

I can conveive of no circumstance that would result in a serving soldier defacing his uniform in such a destructive fashion. This is not in any way tailoring and tenders the garment undit for wear in a military context. I suspect that such butchery was perpetrated so that the tunic could be worn for theatrical purposes or even ( gasp! ) for a child's Hallowe'en costume. What a pity.

Cheers,

Mark
