Just received my snider, wondering if anyone knows much about the English to portagese sales have very low serial numbers lacking many proof marks that are on regular firearms.

My undersatanding, perhaps flawed, is that both regular issue and private contract firearms were provided. Chevk out tge dealers' sites - either Joe Salter or Denner - I recall seeing relevant information recently on one of these sites.

I believe it to be a artillery carbine p61 mark III but not stamped mark3 21.5 inch barrel brass 600 yard sight 2 band if anyone knows anything please let me know 1 st snider and I am hooked.

It has the FA with number stamp has British war Dept stamp and x stamp sale out of armory and triangle with dot Portuguese acceptance stamp on barrel and wood looks like a good one any information would be helpful, I think I am maxed out on research

Thank you. I don't think I have that issue. I let my subscription lapse the last few years of publication which is probably why I am not aware of the article. I have a standard issue cabine with Portugese modifications - saddle ring anf serial number.
