Formed in 1793, and became in July 1881 the 5th (Militia) Battalion of the Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians).

Embodied:
1. Revolutionary War, etc 1793 to 1802.
2. European Disturbances, etc 1803 to 1814 Aug.
1815, May, to 1816.
3. Crimean War 1854 to 1856.
4. South African War 1900, May 2, to 1900, Oct 19.

Served through the suppression of the Irish Rebellion 1798, and sent to the relief of Royalists in Wexford, where a company, being surprised by the Rebels, was cut to pieces at the Three Rocks on May 31st (101 all ranks killed). The Regt was afterwards engaged at Vinegar Hill, Ross, Fokes, and other battles during the Rebellion. Volunteered for and stationed in England 1811-1813.

Not a history but of interest all the same, the regiments standing orders of 1796, via Google free e-books.
