"Fuss & Fashion - 200 Years of Canadian Military Headdress"

Postby servicepub » 21 Mar 2013 19:12

Collectors of headdress may be interested in my new book "Fuss & Fashion". Almost 600 individual items are shown, in full colour. In addition there are 150 contemporary photos of the items in wear, an extensive introduction by well-known uniformologfist Rene Chartrand and an appendix consisting of a compilation of all related General Orders.

Having just received my copy of Clive's book I can strongly recommend it. It is an outstanding work with beautiful presentation and comprehensive content.

I venture that this will be the standard reference work for Canadian headdress for some time to come.

Clive,

I see that you got a guernsey in the latest Journal of the Society for Army Historical Research. I presume that they will be doing a full book review for the next edition.

Stuart,
Not a member so I haven't seen this.
Not Australian so I haven't a clue what you mean by 'guernsey'! :P
They would like to do a proper review but could not suggest an appropriate reviewer. The name that came to mind was Rene Chartrand but, as he wrote the intro, was deemed to be inappropriate. If you are a member would you consider penning one?

Clive,

guernsey simply means that you "got a look in" or more to the point "were selected."

Clive,

I should have added that I have let my membership of the Society for Army Historical Research lapse. Perhaps regrettable, perhaps not.
