Sword Forum International http://forums.swordforum.com/

Hi all

Spotted this one linked in a post by a fellow forum member and thought some might find it useful.

It looks at swords from all eras and continents but there seems to be plenty of British swords used during the Victorian period.

I think that the antique and military section of SFI is one of the best communities on that site, and it personifies the "warm and friendly" environment towards which SFI strives. In addition, there are many very knowledgeable members who are happy to share their knowledge and experience. Using the search function one can find many informative threads on Victorian military swords--both for officers and other ranks. For people interested in learning more about collecting antique swords--from care and conservation to buying online, check out the Tips for the Sword Collector thread.

For help identifying and researching sword and bayonet patterns, try these excellent sites:

www.oldswords.com

OldSwords.com is a long-running website with many resources available to collectors and researchers.

www.oldbayos.com

OldBayos.com is a newly established site which features the same functionality as OldSwords.com.

This is only tangentially related, but I run a forum database of period fencing/combat treatises (for example, Victorian sabre, cutlass and bayonet manuals):

The attached forum dicusses the content of these and other treatises.

Matt
