Identify 3 Saw Back Bayonets of 1875 Pattern

Postby Will Mathieson » 13 Dec 2016 04:33

I have 3 saw back bayonets 1875p.

Top is a bar on barrel, 21mm MRD and a 18" barrel. Ricasso marked F.D.B and opposite side is peened out but appears to have been the german knights head. No British inspection markings.

Centre is a bar on band with 20mm MRD. A 18.2" long blade with P.D.L in an oval the ricasso. No other markings.

Bottom is a bar on band with a 18mm MRD and a 18.2" long blade marked on ricasso German kings head. no other markings.

The top one does not fit with an RIC bayonet, the centre could be the Australian henry and bottom could be 112 trials pattern 1875.

Any help in clarifying these bayonets is appreciated.
