On behalf of the forum staff I would just like to wish all our members a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

If anyone receives something 'Victorian Wars' related for Christmas please do let us know

And an equally merry Chritmas to you also.

I may not be able to contribute very much at all, but the efforts of the regular posters and the forum staff place this as one of the best sites of its type, full of magnificent information kindly shared and free from the less savoury aspects of forum behaviour found elsewhere.

Long may it continue.

Best of the Season to All!

In response to Mark's hint to post about any Victorian-era military items received, here is my Christmas present to myself: a very nice Mark IV .455 Webley .... which does, indeed, have VR proof and acceptance marks!

We were away from the house during the day, and the undoubtedly over-worked parcel delivery folks tried to drop it during our absence, having to leave a "pick-up notice" instead. When I got home I called to confirm that it did get left at my local postal outlet today (rather than not getting there until after Boxing Day) and then immediately rushed off to try to beat their 4:00PM closing time. Arrived at the "In" door to find it already locked, but a chap was coming out the adjacent ""Exit" door, so I managed to sneak in to pick up my parcel. No time to take photos of my own, yet. These are images from the dealer's website ..... but the red background is a nice touch, eh what?

Beautiful revolver, Grant! I once owned a WW1 period MKVI but a Boer War era MKIV is something very special!

Nice present, Kay! :D As you know I have a Pegu to a soldier in the 80th Foot and they are getting real hard to find now. My early Christmas present to myself was that Zulu also to the 80th.
