Crimea medal roll check

Postby Vintagescubaman » 07 Dec 2017 11:14

I was wondering if anybody could check the entitlement of Alfred Austin (Lieutenant) 30th foot, on the Crimea roll?

Many thanks

I can confirm he is on the roll and his only clasp entitlement is the 'Sebastopol' clasp.

His service record is available as a free download http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C178178 pdfs 60 & 61. This confirms the above and notes the award of the Order of Medijie 5th Class, it also gives details of the major actions he was in i.e. the attack on the Redan.

Hello Martin

Thanks very much, I really appreciate the information! The link to his service record is particularly interesting!
