Abbreviation I.M.C. after name?.

Hello. I have an old travelling trunk which has a brass plate attached bearing the name of the original owner followed by the letters I. M. C. and I was wondering whether this could by military related?. The trunk is Victorian or Edwardian in date and appears to have been made abroad, possibly in India. The name is J. W. Adams.

Any thoughts very welcome.

International Missionary Council, formed in 1921, seems quite likely. ... ry-council
Relic of many a fight and siege and sack, it points a moral and adorns the back.
