Hi All,
can anyone help,I have a QSA for 4490 pte Warren JR. 9th lancers, while reading the Diary of the 9th Lancers i have come across a reference to a Pte warren J been taken prisoner on sunday 25th of march 1900 at Brandfort. I have checked the roll and have found a pte Warren j, is it possible to check the details of P.O.Ws to see if i have the right man.

Hi NICO......

He is not listed in the Palmer's Boer War Casualty Roll though as being captured......

Here's your man: Warren, J.R., 4490, Private, 9th Lancers, Cape Colony, OFS, 1901, 1902.

Nico,

The Warren POW at Brandfort is Private 4232 A Warren 9th (Queen's Royal) Lancers (ref: The Register :D ).

As JR Warren earned the 1901/1902 clasp I would not expect him to have been in SA in 1900.
