Regiments

Postby kaigs » 12 May 2009 09:19

I am working on a project that requires me to write an A2 page on each of the regiments that took part in the Siege & Relief of Ladysmith. To date I have almost all of them tied up however, in spite of writing to the regiments and receiivng no reply, I'm unable to find anything on the following: Middlesex, Lancaster's, Yorks and Lancs, Surrey's, 18/19 Hussars, 5 Dragoon Guards. Please can someone help me?

Brian,

An interesting project. Is your list going to include the logistics/support corps such as the ASC, AMC, AOC, etc.? If so, I am looking forward to reading what you find out about them.

All the best,

Thanks guys for your help and advice and yes I think I've just about covered all the well-known sites; Kevin Aspinal and David Biggins in particular have been a great help.

The answer to the logistics companies/regiments is yes, providing I can accumulate sufficient story to cover an A2 size page which seems to equste to four A4's. I have been working on three A4's for the history and general story of the regiments, paying particular interest to their part in the Siege & Relief of ladysmith and a fouth page that contains photographs/anecdotes etc.
Anything you haveplease send but contact me first as I have already completed 15 regiments.
Regards
Brian :)

Brian,

The book you need is Stirling's 'Our Regiments' - brief synopsis of what each did. If you can't get it then let me know and I can help you.

Or has David Biggins' copied this onto his site?
