Hello Fellow Members

Here is the famous image of Colonel W H Mackinnon CIV that needs no introduction taken from a print of mine, He is obviously kited out in His field kit but I'm intrigued with the Khaki Sword Knuckle Guard Cover ?

Has anyone got info on these and was they used by more officers or did W H Mackinnon have this privately made ? I have never seen one adorning a sword before and I'm guessing its a pattern 1897 sword that its covering ?
