Thoughts on Grant's and Archer's Works?

Postby ragbones » 03 Jun 2017 03:08

I recently purchased and have begun reading "Cassell's History of the War in the Soudan," by James Grant. Has anyone read both Cassells and, "The History of the War in Egypt and the Soudan," by Thomas Archer? I'm curious as to how similar they might be? I'm thinking about picking up up a copy of the latter, too, but the available copies in good condition are expensive. I'm hoping that these sets would complement one another and not be too similar. Any thoughts?
Thank you,
Wayne

There are online editions of the latter, which consists of four volumes on Archive.org

Alternatively, they are linked, as are Grant's books, on the FIBIS Fibiwiki page Sudan Campaign
