I am writing a book. For all the historical pieces published about the war, no one has attempted a novelization since Flashman, and that's not exactly in the genre of historical fiction. Hopefully I'll give a good accounting of the conflict that's accessible to readers who aren't fans of the history books but enjoy a good story. The hardest part is deciding what not to cover, as there are so many interesting facets to the campaign.
The negotiations and reasonings behind the invasion, the long march to Quetta and Kandahar, the storming of Ghazni, siege of J-bad, Occupation and Retreat from Kabul, the Army of Retribution. It'd make for an interesting movie, especially given our countries recent involvements there.
