57th West Middelsex Regt's return to Liverpool

Postby Lancs » 17 Jul 2013 19:25

Here's hoping someone can point me in the right direction regarding which ship my Great, Great grandfather returned to England on in 1867. According to the Regimental History (RH) he was in G company but it is not that clear from the RH which ship G company returned to England on. The RH states the right wing boarded the Electric which had a terrible journey home and the left wing board the Maori! Therefore could anyone advise me if G company would have been in the right or left wing.
Grateful for any pointers.

As the 10 service companies of a battalion when they stood in line were numbered from the right, that would make 'G' company no. 7, so it was in the left wing of the battalion.
